A.      TV Filter Wheel

1.        “Positive” rotation is clockwise looking from the front of the camera.

2.        A good driving speed is 5,000 PPS.

3.        ACA = 256,000

4.        DCA = 256,000

5.        Limits and edge detect should be set:  CN 1,-1, controller 1, axis A

6.        Useful commands:

·         CB1 Turns on the fiducial LED

·         TSA                Tests fiducial   (13 = out, 15 = in)

·         FEA                Find the edge

·         DPA=0           Set present location of “A” encoder to “0”

·         TPA                Prints the present location of “A”

·         PAA=N          Move to “N”, any of the filter locations.

·         KDA=275      PID

·         KPA=28         PID

·         KIA=9            PID

·         JGA=5000      good jog speed

·         SHA               motor on

7.        Filter Locations (These are rough approximations.):

·         #1      8,532

·         #2    23,532

·         #3    38,532

·         #4    53,532

·         #5    68,532

·         #6    83,532

·         #7    98,532

·         #8    113,532

8.        Time for one full rotation: 26 seconds

B.      TV Focus

1.        The “Positive” rotation of focus ring is clockwise looking from the front of the camera.

2.        A good driving speed is 500 PPS.

3.        Limits and edge detect should be set:  CN 1,-1, controller 1, axis B

4.        Useful commands:

·         CB2 Turns on the fiducial LED

·         TSB                Tests fiducial   (13 = out, 15 = in)

·         FEB Find the edge

·         DPB=0            Set present location of “B” encoder to “0”

·         TPB                Prints the present location of “B”

·         PAB=N          Move to “N”, any of the focus positions.

·         JGB=500         good jog speed

Testing fiducial and limit switches:

KDB = 200

KPB = 92

KIB = 33

CB2

JGB = 500 or SPB = 500

BLB = -2000000000

SCB                                        should = 9

DPB = 0

TPB                                        should = 0

SPD = 500

JGB = 500                               run until stopped by forward limit

BGB

MG _LRB, _LFB                   0 = in primary limit

                                                1 = not in primary limit

JGB = -500             run until stopped by reverse limit

BGB

Install forward limit by-pass cable on stage box JB3. This will allow you to run out to the secondary limits. Secondary limits must be backed out of by hand, then do an SHB to turn the motor back on.

MG @IN[2]                           0 = not in secondary limit

                                                1 = in secondary limit

5.        Focus Locations (These are rough approximations.):

·         Forward Limit (Primary)               +2391

·         Forward Limit (Secondary          +2638

·         Reverse Limit (Primary)               -2475*

·         Reverse Limit (Secondary)         -2509*

* reverse side limit switches kick back after being enabled

C.      TV Focus Comments

1.        The above positions are approximations because there is presently some slip (up to 400 counts) in the system when driving limit to limit. A new, smaller drive wheel is scheduled to replace the wheel that is in place now, so these positions will become meaningless.

2.        The drive belt seems to tighten as the focus ring is rotated. The cause is under investigation.

3.        The clutch on the drive shaft needs some instructions as to what torque it is to be set. Once set, there should be some form of mark on the set ring so that it can be easily reset to the correct position if it has been moved.

4.        The present “K” constants are listed below. They are approximate, and expected to change with the installation of the new drive wheel. There is some “buzz” in the motor with these settings.

·         KDA = 200

·         KPA  =  92

·         KIA   =  33

·         Crossover Frequency was found to be 10.0cps
