Fiducial/Secondary limit test connector, EL-1297

This diagram shows the stage fiducial and primary limit test fixture. To use, disconnect JB3 from the interconnect box for the stage in question. Connect the test cable in it's place. Set both test switches into the closed position to simulate the normal run conditions for the stage. Using the TSn (see table below) command, note the initial value returned. The bit 2 and 3 values (hex) should now be a 0 (the stage limits inactive.) Actuate the reverse limit and reread the TSn value. The bit 2 position value(hex) should now be a 1 (the active state.) Now release the reverse switch and activate the forward limit switch. The bit 3 position value(hex) should now be a 1 (the active state.)
Next, reread the TSn value and this time note the bit 1 value. It should read as a 1. Next, determine the output that is used to turn on the emitter portion of the fiducial - the table below will help determine the correct axis/output bit. Use the clear bit command, CBn to turn on the fiducial. Reread the TSn value and the new value should contain a zero in bit position 1. This indicates that the IR emitter is now on and turning on the base of the photo-transistor which in turn pulls the output to ground. Lastly, insert an opaque material between the two posts of the slotted switch. Again, read the TSn value and verify that the bit 1 value has returned to the 1 state. Leave the fiducial enabled (CNn = 0) and ensure that the test limit switches are in the closed position. Now, command the stage to servo using the SHn command where n is the stage designation letter (A, B...G, H). Send a JGn command followed by a BGn command and the motor should run. Now, set the reverse limit to the open position. The stage should immediately stop. Restart the stage and do the same for the forward limit. Next, issue the find edge command, FEn, and the begin command, BGn. Slide the opaque material into the slot of the fiducial and the stage will come to a halt.
Last, disconnect the test fixture and reconnect JB3 to the interconnect box.
