Cradle Wiring

The cradle stage wiring section of this manual contains descriptions of the rotation stage wiring and associated systems for the cradle portion of the DEIMOS Spectrograph. It corresponds to the Cradle Stage Wiring tab in the electronics schematics binder.

Rotation Controller Modifications:

The "Latch" signals from each of the two Renishaw barrel rotation encoders need to be translated from a differential signal to a negative pulse in order to be recognized by Galil motor controller 0 ("ROTO").

An MC3486 Differential Line Receiver was mounted on the prototype portion of the Galil 1900 amplifier board of controller "0".

The +/- index signals from the two Renishaw rotation encoders pass through the line receiver and are delivered to the Galil controller as X-Latch and Y-Latch. These signals and their locations on the amplifier terminal strip are pictured below:
