The barrel stage wiring section of this manual contains descriptions of the individual stage wiring for the barrel portion of the DEIMOS Spectrograph. It corresponds to the Barrel Stage Wiring tab in the electronics schematics binder.

The PI (Physik Instrumente) Piezo Controller is a 3-channel controller equipped with a serial interface. The DEIMOS instrument uses only channel one to control the tent mirror. In normal operation the front panel switches should be set as shown in the below table:

	CH2	(Don't Care)
	CH3	(Don't Care)

Switch 1 on the D/A converter selects between on line and off line. The piezo is controlled via the RS-232 port and thus the switch is set to ON LINE. The switches on the PZT-Control unit switch between open loop control, VC, and closed loop control, EC. This switch should be set to EC due to the type of piezo actuator that we use.
